Dyslexia Drop in Sessions

From January 10th 2019, Dr Katharine Barden, our Literacy Coach, will be holding weekly drop in sessions for pupils who have been diagnosed with dyslexia or have dyslexic tendencies. Sessions will take place in the library on Thursdays during lesson 1.

The aim of these sessions is to provide a relaxed and friendly environment in which pupils can:

• Discuss how dyslexia affects their lives and their learning
• Pinpoint specific areas of difficulty and/or barriers to learning
• Explore learning tips, strategies and resources aimed at making learning easier

Further appointments can be made for follow up, or to discuss more complex issues.

These optional sessions are in addition to the regular literacy support provided to targeted students.

Once the drop in sessions have been established with pupils, we plan to provide similar sessions for parents.

If a pupil wishes to attend a drop in session, they should request a pass (to be shown to their class teacher) from the library or their English teacher at least a day before the session.

If you think your child may benefit from this support, please encourage them to request a pass.
